The Journey to the Center of the Earth, written by Jules Verne and published in 1864, is a classic adventure tale. It was translated to English in 1871 and, nearly a century later, adapted for the big screen. The story appeared once more in 2008 as a major motion picture. I love this abstract painting (from
here) because, while it IS abstract, you have to look at it for a while to realize that is a crossbreed between images you are familiar with and shapes meant to stir the imagination.
